Bundjil (Aquila audax)

Wedge-tail Eagles still here on the Ballawiyn (Bellarine) Peninsula not far from our home.

Large stick nest, eagle pellets (castings), rabbit and rat bones at the bottom of this big pine tree is a give-away. “Bundjil” to Kulin Nation’s mob and central to Wadawurrung Traditional custodians lore to Gobata Dja” ~ Care for Country.

In the Anthropocene, era of ecocide and climate collapse we could say “nyatne” (be thankful in Wadawurrung) for our biggest raptor’s presence on these lands.
