Personal statement

Currently I’m a Senior Lecturer in Education (Early Childhood) in School of Education, Faculty of Arts-Education, Deakin University (Djilang – Waurn Ponds Campus) Australia. Member of Regenerating Futures Group, Deakin University. Living and working on Wadawurrung Dja (Country). Somatics, eco somatics, eco dharma and systems perspectives inform my orientation to daily living, activism and the web-of-life. The permaculture ethics of earth care, people care, fair share also provide guide points to how to be human in an era of polycrisis. In 2019 I successfully completed a Doctor of Education degree at University of New England (UNE), Australia. You can find out more about my research interests and activity at Llewellyn Wishart on ResearchGate and ORCID.  Like many people working in higher education and research I’m stuck in front of a computer screen, this “sedentary insanity” (quoting Steve Paxton, co-founder of Contact Improvisation) needs vigilant and playful resistance! I maintain sanity with regular embodiment practices: meditation, yoga, dance, mindful nature & ocean walks; cycling, gardening, habitat restoration, swimmnig, surfing, kayaking and sailing. Land, sky and waterways of Victoria’s Ballawiyn (Bellarine) Peninsula are constant sources of inspiration and wellbeing.
